Not necessarily. Both are on the same class of drugs, a class known as benzodiazepines. Both drugs affect people differently.
Librium 25 mg equivalent to 1 mg of Ativan.
Both drugs are alcohol detoxification. Librium is the drug of choice because it is slowly eliminated and lead to a progressive decrease in the blood, which helps the detoxification of alcoholics with no problems. Lorazepam is preferred if there is a serious disease of the liver and the accumulation is a concern. At least that position in health care in the United Kingdom.
